Towards their first visit to Russia for the now legendary concert at "Gorbushka" in Moscow back in 2001 (luckily, documented on video), Coil decided to put together a collection of songs that would illustrate their vision of the band's history to the Russian audience.

From the vast amount of material, in nearly alchemical manner, they had extracted two characteristic components: a transparent glacial Moon substance, Silver, and a fiery bright Sun essence, Gold. The two parts of the collection, introduced as Guides to the listener, symbolize two paths leading from the different sides towards the eternal subject of Love and Death and the magic that unites the two.

Detached contemplation and raging madness, sublime tenderness and bestial cruelty, lyrical chastity and vicious obscenety - Silver and Gold of Coil's two sides, of the coin's two sides. Unfortunately, however you may try and flip the coin, it won't land a chance to see Coil again. Yet, you can still hear.
